Tell us a bit about yourself and your background?
I am Kamal Gulati the Founder & Director of “The Makeoverz”. I did my Post Graduation from BIMTECH and then studied LLB from Innovative Institute of Law. Prior to this i was working with my father into his real estate business. Our family is in this business from the last 30 years. I wanted to started something on my own like he did 30 years back so left the family business and started Makeoverz.
What is themakeoverz and when did you started?
The Makeoverz is an online directory to the Salons, Spas, Makeup Artists, Skin Centres, Gyms, Fitness Studios and Personal Trainers & Dieticians in Delhi NCR. We give customers a chance to know some very essential but basic information about our clients and give them a chance to express their views and provide ratings. So that their experience is pleasant from the very first step to the last. We have also started selling offers for Salons, Spa & Makeup and will start likewise from other categories soon.
What problem themakeoverz solve?
The Makeoverz has a location based search facility so that our users can filter their options accordingly. It isn’t conventional to physically check every Gym & Salon around the vicinity to find the one that is safe for you, has the equipments you want and doesn’t compromise on quality. We also provide updated offers of Salon, Spa & Makeup along with original pictures and rate lists so that our users know every minute detail about our merchants. We will start offering deals of other categories very soon. Our users can also read previous reviews in order to pick the service that they find the most reliable.
What are key services you are providing which are differentiator from the rest?
Our biggest USP is that we customise deals on the basis of our user’s requirements. No other website has this feature. We have a chat plugin where we interact with our users directly and based on their requirements provide them the best deal. For instance if a user doesn’t require a specific service given in the deal then we will modify the deal. We provide all Information, Pictures, Rate Lists and Offers. We have more than 2100 Vendors Listed on our Website. We have 7 categories for Beauty and Fitness. No other website offers both the categories. We sell offers and we have also started bookings on our website. The Makeoverz is basically an all in one website where we provide our users with all the required information.
How did the idea develop?
It was about November 2013, when I thought about Zomato and its success. How the company reached the heights by providing the pictures and menu of the food outlets around us. Beauty & Fitness was the industry which lacked information. So it struck me that how convenient it would be for people if somebody could just provide the information like Rate List & Pictures about Salon, Spa & Gym. I talked to some friends and they told me that a portal like this should exist. So, I visited a couple of salons with a friend and told them that we need information about their salon to list them on our website. They got excited and told us that they want to get featured. That research was enough for me to work on it.
How many people are working?
We are a team of 10 people.
SEO Manager: Ambuj Rawat is responsible for coordinating and implementing SEO & SMO strategies for clients. He possess exceptional attention to detail, and has outstanding interpersonal skills.
Customer Service Representative: Kuldeep Kaur is the intermediary between the company and its users. She telephonically offers deals provided by the merchants to our users & simultaneously increases the company market base. Her role is essentially to attract the users and convince them to go through our website.
Business Development Manager: Ankur Soni, who meets Vendors personally to fetch their Best Deals that offer on their website. He is also responsible for making marketing strategies.
Mobile App Development Team: Deepanshu Bhasin, Devesh Magotra & Jyotsna Anand are very enthusiastic and are working on the Android Application, which is going to be launched very soon.
Content Writer & Social Media Manager: Karuna Duggal, Chayana Sharma & Krishn Kumar Gupta are a part time helping hand for the company as they efficiently writes blogs related to Beauty & Fitness to engage our target audience and also manage our Social Media.
Who are your competitor?
Purplle - They essentially Sell Beauty Products. Salon Services are secondary on their Website. They do not provide pictures, contact numbers, offers and bookings of many salons are also not present.
Ziffi – They were into booking appointments for Doctors & Diagnostic Centres. They recently started Spa & Salon services. They don’t provide Contact Numbers, Offers.
Stylofie – They do not provide pictures, contact numbers & offers of Salon.
Justdial – Provides Contact Numbers. They do not provide actual pictures & offers of Salon & Spa.
Groupon / Nearbuy – They Sells Offer but does not provide Contact number.
Tell us something about the Mission and Vision of themakeoverz?
We aim at making an all new unique beauty and a fitness directory that provides our customers with contacts and maps to their favourite salons/spas and gyms. Giving them the price list and allowing them to choose at their will.
What is your Target audience? And how did you market yourself among them?
There is a huge market of people who are in the The Beauty & Fitness Industry is increasing numerically constant search for their ideal Beauty & Fitness Partners. Everybody needs Salon, Spa, Gym and Makeup in their daily life. We have been very active in the marketing we are doing.
Where do you see themakeoverz in next 5 years?
We are dealing in Delhi NCR as of now but we are planning to go PAN India soon. A mobile app is currently in the pipeline for next month. We are hoping to become the Top player in this segment.
Who are your role models?
Steve Jobs is on the top of the list. I have read a lot about him and his thoughts inspires me a lot.
